called uscis to ask when july 2 filers are likely to get receipt notice.She said because of the load of apps expected it might take about 4 to 6 wks.I hope july 2 filers don t have to pay huge penalty for filing on the very ifirst eligible day:( (something to worry about till this journey ends i guess):(

This is not just contained in the US. Yes sub prime mortgage mess was concentrated in the US. credit crunch is affecting globally. This is unprecedented in recent years. Analyst opinions can be thrown out the window. There is big psychology to play. Are you willing to trust where u have ur money or not.? Thats the bottomline question at all levels...banks, bonds, stocks, commodities, options..country reserves etc.
Fed & treasury (also other similar global regulators - I know of Russia & India) are also pumping money into the system to prevent a total meltdown.
Liquifying of assets will happen sooner rather than later. Cash is King, Queen, Rook, ...pawn etc. But what is this cash? is this currency note that is getting devalued by the minute (global currency devaluation is going on). Or is this some commodity like Gold, oil? Whats gonna happen to gold prices? Oil prices are down in the condition that people consume less....global recession. Confidence in the fundamental economic system needs to happen for things to pick up. IMO that will happen only when the whole system is purged of such unregulated manipulation of paper money. Its gonna be back to basics - macro economic lesson for the whole world. price = where supply & demand curve meet.
As long as other global economies that rely & be dependent on the US economy still have faith in the US treasury...it may still be ok...but who knows when China is gonna start dumping US investments & adding gold to their reserves at a faster pace...at that time...more bets are off.

I have downloaded the MS Access data(from Flatdatacenter..) and wrote queries :
I could get labor cases filed for INDIANS only for years 2007,2006,2005. For other years the data is not available.

Wow. I see a lot of EB-3 are pre-2005 (pre-PERM). Same poll for EB-2 shows most approvals are in PERM period.
Me also is EB-3 India Jun 2004. I-140/485 filed and pending.

To be fair, inability to get educated (linked to career progression) deserves some attention.
I was in gautamagg's situation earlier (I am still kind of ). I believe there are several others in the same situation. GC delay is an serious hindrance when age is a factor for getting education. However, there are alternatives - part-time education and studying in another country. Have friends who have taken both the approaches. You can come back to the U.S (if you really need to) after your education/experience through H1 again.
As far as the U.S loosing talent, U.S legislators/administrators are the ones who should be worried and try to stop it. The coveted trying to convince them seems contradictory and doesn't gel well.
Personally, I think expecting a quick solution for the mired immigration issue to get an education is expecting a little too much when there are alternatives. This is a wrong forum to do it too.

And, the work of every president in the modern history has been diagonally opposite to the expectation. Example, conservatives voted for Bush to ban abortion, stop illegal immigration, balance budget etc. On all these issues, he was a major upset to his supporters. Based on what I know (and don't know), I think that the expectations of most people from Obama administration are likely to dash against the rock. Specifically, people on immigration forums like this one, who feels being in the proximity of a miracle will soon realize the dangerously flawed situation. The apathy of this community will consume it. Live and learn....

I signed a bond of 10G for getting a hardcopy of this letter mailed out by June 29th from my company's NJ office. This is initial evidence that you have FUTURE job offer and without it the 485 will be rejected.
If someone is lucky let they be - Do NOT make this mistake of not sending this letter in ORIGINAL.

Consultants end up being cheaper for companies. Much cheaper! No labor tax, no payroll tax, no health insurance (over $500), no any insurance, no contributions to 401K and many more expenses. Plus $12K and then what? You will leave the firm in 6 months. Plus you cannot say that ONLY they got their worth from your services. They paid you what you are worth too! Right?
Green card processing costs only $12000 max..Its not a big deal for such big companies.They just dont want to do the favor.
getting green card itself takes min 10 years. so you r going to stick on to this company until that time. is that not a gaurantee. working for 10 years with same company.
you know y consulting companies file green card immediately. they do that becos the employee will stay with the company for a while.American companies do not realize this.

I am surprised that this thread is still active. Usually by this time somebody from the core group puts a statement and that usually closes the discussion. I am sure this will happen soon since atleast a few posters have been requesting asistance from Pappu regarding this issue. I am just waiting for that post to come...dont know when. Hey pappu why are you taking so long......why dont you post and tell all our friends who are currently so emotional about the reality of pursuing the legal option...

You go back to your posts and check what you said. Do a bit of introspection before you resort to mudslinging. Adding facts helps members. Resorting to personal attacks on members such as desi3933 who has been extremely logical and rational in response with real data hurts the whole discussion. we need folks such as desi3933 here. Yes was similar to yours. The status did change to Review. They just got it yesterday and I saw hard lud yesterday and a soft lud today. I did not know how my Attorney responded or worded it, I just sent him the EVL from current employer.
How many days have passed snce they received your response? Was yours similar to mine. Please look at Page 1 of this thread of my detailed RFE. Did the sttus change for you to "Review"?
